Arts University Bournemouth - 2017.
What does it mean to be a woman working in the VFX and Animation industries?
An industry led discussion panel focusing on the contributions, successes and experiences of women in the industry. Organised by Ellie Dupont, Lecturer in VFX at the Arts University Bournemouth.
Why do VFX and other computer and technology courses attract so few women?
Why are there so few women currently working in the film industry?
“The theme of ‘Diversity within the Industry’ is a current and important theme that is making waves currently, both in education and within the film industry.
“This event looked at unpicking some of the topics surrounding this theme and encouraged students to ask questions and dig a little deeper to find some answers to these questions”.
           - Ellie Dupont.
10 key speakers from industry including Framestore, MPC, Double Negative, Aardman and CBeebies, gave career talks at the event held on Friday 26 May at AUB. They also joined a collaborative discussion panel with academics and students.
This was a rare and valuable opportunity for animation and VFX students to gain insight into the experiences and issues that still face the industry around gender equality.
